Construction Products Regulations

9th Feb 2015

IMPORTANT- CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS REGULATIONS.

REGULATION (EU) No 305/2011 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 9 March 2011 laying down harmonised conditions for the marketing of construction products and repealing Council Directive 89/106/EEC

The regulations apply to any construction products that will be incorporated into a construction works.  A construction works is any building or civil engineering works and a construction product is any product or kit that is placed on the market for incorporation in a permanent manner in construction works.

It is likely that a weigh-bridge or other weighing equipment that may be permanently incorporated into a civil engineering works will be covered by these regulations and those businesses placing the instrument on the market will need to meet the requirements.  This advice is different from that given earlier in the year and it is now the view of the UKWF that the manufacturers and others placing the instruments on the market will need to meet the obligations outlined above if they wish to ensure full compliance.

The regulations require the approval of the construction product by a notified body, the application of a CE mark and the production of a Declaration of Performance to enable the instrument to be placed on the market.

If you are of the view that these regulations may apply to you, I strongly advise you to read this presentation.
