The NMO Weighbridge project

29th Nov 2012

The NMO have published the results of the second part of the weighbridge project. It is excellent that such work is still being completed.

Report of Phase 2 of the National Weighbridge Project

Although the number of weighbridges outside of the legal tolerance had reduced to 16.9%, this is still an unacceptably high level. I think what is perhaps more concerning is the fact that only 35.1% of type approval certificates were checked. One of the most expensive elements of manufacturing a trade approved weighbridge is to ensure compliance with the type approval. It is disappointing that Trading Standards Department do not appear to be checking for this element of compliance.
