Market Surveillance
(50 Kb)
The UKWF have recently produced guidance notes on manufacturers and importers responsibilities under market surveillance.
This is a responsibility of all people manufacturing and importing instruments into the UK and it is hoped that these documents will be of use in helping comply with these legal requirements.
If you complete the check sheet for the instruments that will be covered by the market surveillance obligations, you will be going some way to demonstrating that you are taking the responsible stance to these obligations.

There is the original set of guidance notes which was produced in 2002 if you require a copy of the report contact Denise McGregor on 0121 237 1130
This article covers the testing, calibration and maintenance
of the equipment and the organisation that carries out the work. Calibration of
a weighing instrument is a complex business, requiring consistency of approach,
traceability of standards, training of personnel, knowledge of the equipment
and keeping of clear and relevant records.
Despite the misguided efforts of the media and a few 'libraphiles', the UK has become metricated, except for certain well known exceptions. (The pint is still legal for dispensing draught beer and cider. It can also be used for selling pre-packed milk in returnable containers - bottles to you and me. And of course the mile has survived at least for the time being.) These guidance notes explain the law and how metrication really applies to us.
